Kia ora,

Welcome to all new EIT students and welcome back to returning students. 

We are sorry we weren't able to provide you with a formal Whakatau (welcome) onto campus this year due to Covid-19 restrictions. We have instead put all of the important helpful information regarding student support and services into the email below.

Free Health Services - Turanga Health

Turanga Health provide free nursing services for EIT students. If you have any health concerns you can visit them at:

Turanga Health, 145 Derby St.
Office hours Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.

Just take your student ID to present at reception.

EIT Tairāwhiti Library

Meet Jenni, Lucy and Awhina, the lovely ladies in the library that can help you with anything library related:

The EIT Library provides study and research facilities for students, staff and community members in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Our librarians are available to assist students utilise a wide range of resources that support their studies.

Computers and laptops are available for student use. General support with using EIT Online and other course related technologies is also available.

Student Support Advisors

EIT are committed to offering the best experience possible to students while they are studying. As part of this commitment, there is a dedicated team to offer support and manaakitanga to help you succeed on your student journey.

Our services are confidential. Call in to R block on the Tairāwhiti Campus to meet with one of our advisors, or contact them via their details which can be found here.

Learning Services

My name is Roger Quinn and I am here to support your learning. I can help with; numeracy, literacy, basic computing, academic writing, research, study skills, and oral presentations.

I am located in the Library. Appointments can be made with the library staff, by phone, email, online or simply drop in. Individual, group and class workshops can be arranged.

The Hub Cafe at EIT

The Hub café at EIT is a great place to grab a coffee and a bite to eat. The Hub café has amazing food at affordable student prices and is open to students and the public.

Be sure to invite your friends and family along to enjoy a nice meal and show them where you study.

The Hub café is open Monday to Friday 7.30am – 2pm.

Harassment Contact Network

EIT is opposed to any form of unacceptable behaviour.

While you are a student we accept responsibility for providing and maintaining a learning environment free from harassment, discrimination and objectionable behaviour.

There are three Harassment Contact People available to you on the Tairāwhiti Campus whose role is to offer support and help you explore your options when dealing with a case of harassment.

Younited Student Association

My name is Julie Walker I am the Younited student advocate for Tairawhiti.

I have been working in education and with students for nine years .I am outgoing enjoy dancing and teach Lesmills Bodyjam which is so much fun.

I am here Monday to Friday to help Students with any Academic grievances study link or enrollment issues or any concerns affecting your studies at EIT, and is always kept confidential.

I am here to provide support to help students overcome any challenges big or small that they might be having during their tertiary journey.

To help balance and succeed Younited provides recreational activities and a variety of events to cater for a wide range of cultures, age groups and interests of the student body.

Download the MyEIT App

The MyEIT app is popular with EIT students. Over 1000 students are registered users!!!  Currently the  App contains links to key EIT systems including EIT Online, Timetable, student email, online library account and course results in aPlus.
