What computer equipment and services are available for students?
There are computers available for student use at both EIT Libraries. Some are set up with adaptive technology for students with disabilities. All the computers offer access to the Internet, the Library Catalogue, Library Databases and Microsoft Programs. All students are issued with a computer log-in when enrolled. A Help Desk operates during weekday open hours to assist students with computer and printing problems.
Items you can Borrow from the Library Desk at Twist Library
SD Card Unit - This unit will take irregular sized SD cards which may not fit in the Library PCs.
The Libraries have laptops available for students to borrow and use in the Library. These laptops may be borrowed for 4 hours and are to be used on campus only.
When you log into a laptop you can connect to your H:Drive via the Student Farm icon on the desktop OR from the MyEIT homepage on your browser.
The wireless network is called EIT wi-fi. You will need to sign in using your student or staff UserID and password. Instructions for connecting to the wi-fi are here.
My Apps allows you to access applications from home that you would normally be able to access from the internal EIT network (including your H: Drive).

Microsoft Word is a word processing program used to create written documents. This is the most commonly used program used by students to create their assignments. This section contains information on how to set up your assignment and how to format them. Learning to use Word effectively can eliminate repetitive tasks and save you hours of stress. Microsoft Powerpoint is used for creating visual presentations. At EIT it is most commonly used for oral presentations. This sections contains the basics on how to create a powerpoint presentation using templates and how to insert pictures, graphs, sound and video. Also included is how to view and print out handouts and notes from your tutor.
