Can I access support services when studying from home?

The EIT Libraries and Learning Services are closed and will remain so until the COVID-19 alert level is lowered. We are still offering our online resources which are available 24/7, and access to Library and Learning Services staff online during core hours (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) Monday - Friday. Please see below for details on how to access our online resources and how to book online appointments with our teams.

 

Can I still get support with my course work or assignment when the campus is closed?
Yes, you can.  You can access our online guide and resources from anywhere using MyEIT.
If you would like to speak to a staff member fill out an online booking form for the appropriate service and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. There may be delays so please be patient with us.
We will be operating our online chat on MyEIT so if you have any queries please don’t hesitate to ask.

 

I normally see a Learning Advisor. Can I still see someone?
Yes you can.  You can make an online booking with a Learning Advisor at this link.
We also have all our Study Guides that you can access for online material and resources to help with your studies.

 

I need help with APA Referencing, is there anyone who can help me?
Yes there is.  For quick or simple questions please use the online chat on MyEIT for an immediate response (during core working hours).

I need help with finding information for my assignment, who can help me?
At the EIT Libraries we have a large amount of information available online.  We have article databases and e-books all which can be accessed from home.  All our resources can be accessed from this link.


We have guides that will help you find information on our online databases at this link and we have subject guides at this link.


Library staff are able to help you with finding information by distance.  For quick questions please use the online chat on MyEIT for an immediate response (during core working hours). 
Or you can book an online appointment with a librarian if you have complex questions.

 

Will I be charged fines on any library books that go overdue during the closedown?
If you have any library items at home please hold onto them and do not return them to the Library until EIT re-opens. You will not accrue any late fines on these library items. Any notices you receive regarding overdue books or fines please disregard as these are automated from the library system.

 

I need to talk to my Disability and Wellbeing support person, can I contact someone?

I need help with StudyLink, is there someone who can help me?
For an appointment with someone who can help you with StudyLink make a booking at this link.
You can also go to the StudyLink website and contact them for support.  StudyLink have a COVID-19 information page for students getting Student Allowance or Student Loan.

 

I need to talk to someone in the Cultural Support Office (Pouwhirinaki, Cultural Support Advisor, Pacific Student Support, StudyLink), how can I contact them?

How can I get help with EIT Online?
There are student help pages available on EIT Online.  Also please see this page that will help students Supporting your Learning Online.
If you have trouble accessing any of these pages or EIT Online contact a librarian on the MyEIT chat and they will be able to help you.

Are the Health Centre and Counselling services available?
The Health Centre still has all of their Mental  Health services working remotely - whether it be from home, or within the clinics.  We appreciate during this time that there may be a high demand to these services.  For any EIT students needing these services, we ask that you contact via phone on 06 8354696 and we can organise an online/video or phone appointment for you.
