New Book List


Journal articles are written by experts in the field and are an excellent source for current and original research; often on quite specific aspects of a topic. Databases provide you with access to an increasing number of articles which will help you find comprehensive information on your chosen topic.

If you come across an article that does not have the full-text available we can obtain it from another library for you. Complete this interloan form with the appropriate details and we will take care of the rest.

Devised in partnership with the Australian Council for Educational Research, A+ Education connects teaching and learning professionals with definitive content on teacher training, policy, curriculum and pedagogical developments. Full text articles from 2000; Indexed articles from 1978.

Education Source (EBSCO)
Provides full-text articles indexed in the ERIC database.

ERIC
ERIC (Education Resources Information Center) is a digital library of education-related research and information(abstract and full-text) including journal articles, conferences, government documents, theses, reports, bibliographies and books. For full-text articles of journals indexed in ERIC check the Gale, EBSCO and ProQuest databases.

Gale Onefile Educator's Reference Complete
Provides journal articles on multiple levels of education from preschool to college, and every educational specialty—such as technology, bilingual education, health education, testing, administration and more.

Humanities & Social Sciences Collection (Informit)
Covers a range of subjects within an arts and social science context including education, history, media, political science and technology. This full text collection contains journals, books, conference proceedings and reports. Full-text and indexed publications from 1940-.

New Zealand Council of Educational Research Journals
Full text online access to their journal publications: Assessment Matters, Curriculum Matters, Early Childhood Folio, Evaluation Matters, and SET: Research information for teachers.

ProQuest Education Database
Gives access to over 900 top educational publications, including more than 600 of the titles in full text. The coverage spans the literature on primary, secondary and higher education as well as special education, home schooling and adult education. Many titles are indexed in the ERIC database.

Credo Reference
An online library of hundreds of reference books including encyclopaedias, dictionaries, thesauri, atlases, biographies, quotations and subject-specific titles. There are millions of entries, including thousands of images and audio pronunciation files. Contributing publishers include Routledge, SAGE, Cambridge University Press, Wiley, Elsevier and many others. A collection of over 30,000 full-text e-book titles covering a wide range of academic subjects.

GALE databases
Search a range of Gale’s academic and specialist databases including: Gale Academic OneFile; Gale General OneFile; Gale OneFile Australia and New Zealand; Gale in Context collections; and Gale eBooks.

MasterFILE Complete

ProQuest Central is a large multidisciplinary research resource combining more than 47 databases. ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT) Global
Includes millions of searchable citations to dissertations and theses from 1861 to the present day and offers full text for most of the dissertations added since 1997.

Science Direct Social Sciences and Humanities Journals Collection (College Edition) (includes Business)
ScienceDirect is a leading full-text database of peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters in the: health sciences; life sciences; social sciences; and humanities and physical sciences and engineering.

Scopus
Abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature and quality web sources, including 3 million conference papers and 100% Medline coverage. Covers the scientific, technical, medical, social sciences, and arts and humanities fields and provides tools such as Author Identifier, Affiliation Identifier, Citation Tracker, and Journal Analyser to track and analyse research. NB: does not contain full-text documents; click on the SFX button to link to locate the full-text article in another database.

  • Who is making the content available, are they a reliable source?
  • Is the content they are presenting accurate?

Everyone is aware of YouTube but as a student of EIT you also have access to the below resources to locate quality content.

If you do use YouTube, or other online video content, remember to critically evaluate the material you find:

  • Who is making the content available, are they a reliable source?
  • Is the content they are presenting accurate?
  • Is it biased towards political or commercial interests?
